The chp did close down the exit ramp about 7 30 tonight. Thats when the chp vehicle pulled off, and burst into flames right on the exit ramp. Chp officers say they dont know what caused the chp vehicle to catch on fire. They say the officer had been traveling east on the bay bridge out of San Francisco when he noticed smoke inside the car back by the trunk. He smelt smoke coming from his vehicle. He pulled off at the Treasure Island exit. Reporter Officials Say a second chp officer responded to help and was injured when the back of the vehicle exploded. There was an explosion coming from the trunk. Some of the debris came and hit one of the officers in the arm and the chest. Reporter the Police Lights and the flames were bright enough to be seen from traffic cameras. The exit to Treasure Island was closed.
