New members SAN JOSE , Calif. (July 15, 2021) – The San José Planning Commission has new leaders elected by the commission as well as new members appointed by the City Council. The start of the new fiscal year 2021-22 marks the first year where the commission meets as an 11-member body, following voter approval in November 2020 of Measure G that, among other things, expanded the commission membership from seven to 11. At the Commission s last meeting of fiscal year 2020-21, on June 9, commissioners elected Commissioner Rolando Bonilla (District 5) as Chair and Commissioner George Casey (District 10) as Vice-Chair. Bonilla was appointed by the Council to his first term as a commissioner in 2019 and served as Vice-Chair prior to becoming Chair. Bonilla is the Chief Strategy Officer for Voler Strategic Advisors, a public relations firm. His family has deep roots in East San José, having lived there for nearly 50 years.
