Brief standoff in Hinesville ends peacefully A standoff on the evening of Feb. 5, ended peacefully when the suspect surrendered to Hinesville Police Officers. According to Hinesville Police Department Detective Capt. Tracey Howard the standoff began when officers responded to a 9-1-1 call of shots being fired in the 900 block of Spanish Oak Drive shortly before 6 p.m. Howard said neighbors observed a man, later identified as Rajiv Laurent, exit his home and fire multiple shots. The witnesses did not say whether Laurent was firing at someone else or in the air or at the home.

Club has shots fired at building Jamin Jones A popular Hinesville night club sustained some exterior damage after a man shot at the building in the early morning hours of Jan. 30. According to Hinesville Police Department Detective, Kyle Larimore a call came into the 911 center around 12:30 a.m. reporting shots being fired in the vicinity of the Frozen Paradise night club located in the 800 block of E. G. Miles Parkway. Larimore said a nearby officer heard what he believed to be five shots while responding to the call. That officer reported he spotted a man wearing a black hoodie and pants running from the area while holding a handgun. Suspect who allegedly killed victim during robbery turns himself in A person of interest in a deadly shooting incident has turned himself in the morning of Jan. 21. The suspect was allegedly involved in the shooting death of a woman at a convenience store on the evening of Jan. 20. The alleged suspect turned himself in to authorities at the Justice Center in Hinesville according to Hinesville Police Department Detective, Tracey Howard. A family member of the man contacted Liberty County Sheriff, William Bowman, and arrangements were made for him to turn himself in. Bowman notified HPD Chief Lloyd Slater regarding the development of the incident which led to the death of Rosemary Michael, 56 of Hinesville.
