LIBERTY COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - After a carjacking and deadly shooting in Hinesville last week, a local pastor is hoping to bring positivity to where the tragic events happened.
Hinesville police say a woman was shot and killed at a convenience store on the corner of Memorial Drive and Gause Street on Jan. 20. Investigators say the suspect, who later turned himself in, ran across the street to Liberty Prayer Church and carjacked a woman outside.

Hinesville Police Detectives have arrested a man in connection with the Jan. 20 evening shooting at a Hinesville convenience store around 6 p.m. resulting in the death of Rosemary Michaels, 56 of Hinesville. According to HPD Detective, Capt. Tracey Howard, the shooting, which at first was believed to have been a robbery gone wrong, was actually a domestic act of violence.
Howard said he had allegedly been stalking Michaels. Last Wednesday night at a convenience store located on the corner of Gause Street and Memorial Drive, the pair got into a physical altercation.

A person of interest in a deadly shooting incident has turned himself in the morning of Jan. 21. The suspect was allegedly involved in the shooting death of a woman at a convenience store on the evening of Jan. 20. The alleged suspect turned himself in to authorities at the Justice Center in Hinesville according to Hinesville Police Department Detective, Tracey Howard.
A family member of the man contacted Liberty County Sheriff, William Bowman, and arrangements were made for him to turn himself in. Bowman notified HPD Chief Lloyd Slater regarding the development of the incident which led to the death of Rosemary Michael, 56 of Hinesville.
