COURT: The tractor driver avoided jail A TRACTOR driver has avoided a ban for using his mobile phone while travelling along the A6. Carlisle magistrates heard that on March 23, a marked police car overtook a tractor and trailer travelling approximately 40mph near to Thiefside, and an officer noticed the driver on his mobile phone. The court heard that when police stopped the tractor, driver Michael John Robinson walked towards the officer and said he was “turning the music off from the phone”. He went on the say: “I know I shouldn’t be doing that.” Robinson, 27, of Sunnyside, Edenhall, Penrith, pleaded guilty to using a handheld mobile phone while driving on the A6 road between High Hesket and Plumpton.

A family’s challenge to create tasty treats they can all eat has seen them launch a successful chocolate brand. The Wood family - whose various members have a number of food intolerances and allergies - had long struggled to find foods they could all enjoy together. This was until dad Simon began making his own free-from chocolate, an experiment that would eventually spur him and wife Sarah to launch their business Freedom Chocolate. “At the time, pretty much everybody had some kind of food intolerance,” says Sarah. “We had to look for dairy free chocolate but then it would have some sort of milk replacement in it that meant someone else in the family couldn t have it.
