There were no new virus-related deaths in the latest COVID-19 numbers out Thursday from health officials in Oneida and Herkimer Counties.
Oneida County has reported no deaths in six of the last seven days. The county did report two on Wednesday, the 398th and 399th since the pandemic began. There were 44 new positive test results, as the county continues to close in on 20,000 cases since last March (19,788).
The 44 new cases was a slight uptick, after the county had seen an average of about 35 cases per day over the last week.
Active cases in the county declined for the ninth day in a row, down just a handful from the previous day, now at 451. Total hospitalizations among county residents declined from 27 to 25, the fewest in more than four months.
Herkimer County Suffers One Of Its Deadliest COVID Days
Herkimer County
There were four new virus-related deaths included in Herkimer County s daily COVID report on Tuesday. The county has now lost 96 residents to the deadly virus.
Meanwhile, the county reported 16 new positive cases, as the active case total dropped to 83. That s down from Monday s update, which listed 110 active cases. The total number of county residents hospitalized with treatment of the virus was unchanged from the previous day, 18.
Oneida County
Oneida County reported one new death in it s update on Tuesday, moving its overall death toll from the virus to 390.
The county also added 54 new positive cases. Since the pandemic began, Oneida County has seen 19,204 lab confirmed infections. Active cases among county residents stands at 677, up just a tick from Monday s report of 669.
Oneida-Herkimer COVID Update for February 9
Oneida and Herkimer counties once again reported a relatively low number of new COVID positive cases on Tuesday, but there were a total of six local virus deaths.
Oneida County added 32 new COVID positive cases, along with one new death. That death involved a nursing home resident, and the county has now lost a total of 366 residents to the virus.
Active cases in the county fell to 1,074. Hospitalizations among county residents continued to decline, now at 88. Of those, 77 are hospitalized in area hospitalized and 11 more are being cared for outside of the county.
Herkimer County reported 5 new virus deaths in its update on Tuesday, upping the death toll there to 87.
Oneida and Herkimer counties reported fewer than 100 new positive cases combined in the latest numbers out Monday, however, each county did report new virus-related deaths.
