I know that we can talk a lot about your background and your history as an ap reporter. Given the time constraints, i want to jump into your photos of president bush. Tell the story of how you became the official White House Photographer. I love how you got the job. Mr. Draper i will give you the long story. Because it is fascinating to me. I never planned on being the White House Photographer. It was an opportunity that presented itself. Back when i was a Staff Photographer at the ap and most of my career has been in the journalism newspaper wire service business, i was assigned to cover the campaign president ial campaign in 2000. I was assigned to cover governor bush, who was running for office. I was among many journalists traveling on the campaign trail for nearly 18 months. And it was not until the very end of the campaign that it was decided actually, realized that i had a shot at the white house job, which i was very happy and satisfied with my position at the ap. Dr. Linenthal served as a visiting scholar for the National Park service, and for all the decade was a member of the flight 93 memorial commission. He codirects the gilder institute of American History summer teaching seminar, 9 11 memory and the National September 11 memorial. He served on the Advisory Committee for the memorialization for the july 22 norway attacks. So dr. Linenthal opened my eyes to the power of landscape and the contested nature of memory on battlefield such as antietam where i work. When i first read sacred ground as a Nature Graduate student, it was a while ago, but it made a powerful impression on me. I am very fortunate to be superintendent that one of the most sacred and beautiful memorial landscapes in this country. So i am really delighted that he is with us this evening. And so please welcome him to Shepherd University to speak on sacred ground, americans and their battlefields.

Nearly 400 tons. I am curator of transportation and we are at the Henry Ford Museum in dearborn michigan. We are sending in the midst of our railroad exhibit. The railroad was a Major Technology of the 19th century, its not an exaggeration that is Steam Locomotives engine equal to an Airline Pilot today. We have railroad locomotives that tell the story of transportation in the United States but to the early days of the elective locomotive in the 1920s. This is a replica of an 1831 locomotive use any mohawk and hudson railway. It is historic now. Idea of locomotives and trains would have looked like in the late 1820s. It was located in new york state and became a part of a robot that would be know as the new york central. Railroads were very small and local, it might bring run 15 or 20 miles within local cities. Eventually we got to that point but it took a few decades for the local systems to list and grow into each other to form a National Network. People were shocked to see this loco
