An Oquawka man was apprehended by Henderson County Sheriff's Deputies last week on drug charges. Chief Deputy Matthew Link released that 47-year-old Jason Parkins was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and driving while their license was suspended. According to Link, deputies were assisting the Mercer County Sheriff's Office to arrest a man near rural Keithsburg when Parkins allegedly drove up to the residence in a pickup truck. Parkins, who was known to law enforcement as having a suspended license, was placed under arrest, and, after conducting a search of the vehicle, deputies discovered over 12.5 grams of methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe. He was transported to the Henderson County Jail.
A 57-year-old Oquawka man was arrested this week after allegedly being caught in possession of a tractor stolen out of Iowa. According to Henderson County Chief Deputy Matthew Link, Donald Millard was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle on Sunday, May 15. Link says the sheriff's office received a report of Millard driving a tractor that was parked at a residence in Gladstone, where the complainant stated they did not believe Millard had purchased it. Millard and the tractor were located in Gladstone and, upon investigating, deputies learned he did not purchase the farm implement and began searching for a victim. It was learned the tractor was stolen from J. J. Nichting Company in Pilot Grove, Iowa. It was valued at $125,000. He was taken to the Henderson County Jail.
