The Indian Government has approved the development of phases 2A and 2B of the Bangalore Metro Rail Project.
The estimated cost of the two phases is $1.96bn (Rs147.88bn).
With one new 18.236km elevated line, phase 2A will run between KR Puram and Central Silkboard along the Outer Ring Road (ORR) with 13 stations. It is to be built with the 73.92km-long Phase 2 project.
Union railways minister Piyush Goyal said the total completion cost of the project is Rs 14,788 crore.
BENGALURU: In a major relief to Bengalureans, the Centre on Tuesday greenlighted the long-pending Outer Ring Road-Kempegowda International Airport Metro corridor.
Speaking to reporters after a Union cabinet meeting, railway minister Piyush Goyal said: “The government has approved Bengaluru Metro’s Phase 2A from Central Silk Board Junction to KR Puram and Phase 2B from KR Puram to Kempegowda International Airport via Hebbal Junction, spanning 58km in total. The project cost is Rs 14,788 crore.”
