(WMBF) - MUSC Health Florence took 3,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine to the Florence Center for a mass vaccination event on Wednesday. While officials said the hospital fell short of its goal of providing more than 1,300 vaccines, the event was still significant for other reasons. For the first time, people ages 16 and older were able to get their shot. “We’ve seen a lot of FMU [Francis Marion University] students, which is great and other students and people ages 16 and older,” said Elizabeth Crowley, an MUSC Administration Fellow.

(WMBF) – Two hospitals in the Pee Dee have had to put a halt to scheduling new COVID-19 vaccine appointments. MUSC Health Florence and Marion Medical Center explained that due to fluctuations in vaccine availability, they were unable to schedule new vaccine appointments. “Each week, MUSC Health is notified of the number of requested vaccine doses that will be shipped and our team compares this number to the current vaccine appointment schedule,” the hospital explained. “Due to unpredictable vaccine shipment amounts, which change weekly, our team has changed or delayed scheduled vaccine appointments.”

(WMBF) - MUSC Health Florence held its first-ever COVID-19 drive-up vaccination event on Monday at the Florence Center. “MUSC Health is kind of the hospital of South Carolina, kind of the state’s hospital, so we feel like it’s our obligation to do something like this,” said MUSC Health Florence COO Kyle Baxter. Drivers were lined up bumper to bumper throughout the day. Those who lined up for a vaccine had scheduled an appointment before the event.
