The World Health Organisation (WHO) had on Wednesday granted emergency use approval for Bharat Biotech's COVID-19 vaccine Covaxin, in a move that the pharma major said is a "significant" step towards ensuring wider global access to the indigenously developed jab.
After an independent advisory councilĀ of the World Health Organization gave a nod to the Bharat Biotech's COVID-19 vaccine Covaxin for Emergency Use Listing (EUL), the US has also decided to allow travellers inoculated with this vaccine.
The announcement is a great relief to the millions of Indians including students, professionals and businessmen jabbed with Covaxin, who particularly intend to travel abroad.
It is pertinent to note that the emergency approval has been granted after a thorough review of Covaxin. The manufacturer of the vaccine had applied in April and provided the data on 6th July.
