it s not 3.5, but it s x and ready to move? what are we doing this weekend? they could get closer to an agreement. they are working feverishly to resolve the policy differences, maybe come up with a price tag. and there s some possibility that they get there on a handshake agreement. but the progressive caucus folks have said, that is not enough. they want to build up past the senate. that is definitely not going to happen. if they stick to their demand, there doesn t appear to be a path. they could soften speaker pelosi is very good at twisting arms and whipping votes. this bill may be in play. maybe, if enough republicans are willing to support. of course, house republican leaders are also whipping their members to vote no, which makes it even harder for this bill to pass, stephanie. twisting and whipping. we re going to leave it there. sahil kapur, thank you, at home. that wraps up this hour. i m stephanie ruhle. thank you for watching. chris jansing picks up coverage ne
sentist democrats in the house and the senate, their aides will swear up and down that they have in intention of killing reconciliation, that they actually do want this to pass. there are provisions in that, the child tax that everyone supports, but the rest don t support them. that s where it stands right now. just to follow up on one thing, the fight about the dollar figures or about policies in the bill? because if it s just about dollars and cents, that doesn t event feel like a morally relevant fight. is it about the money in the price tag or about policies in the bill? it is absolutely about both. now the dollar figure and the price tag is more about political positioning. $3.5 trillion was the agreement, or at least i guess the handshake agreement that progressives and not rats came to, but some of the centrists say that s a bit much. they want it to go lower. there are policy fight taos. there are real differences of opinion, primarily around the prescription drug issue. yo
bill. as you heard speaker nancy pelosi confirming if a bipartisan bill gets passed in the senate she will not put it up for a vote in the house until a larger reconciliation package is passed. do you support that? i support doing as much as we possibly can at this time of great need and also extraordinary opportunity. i was delighted and heartened to hear more than a week ago now, i guess, the $3.5 trillion agreement, handshake agreement that was reached in the senate budget committee. we need to marry that to infrastructure investment. we need to invest in the american people. so i m going to support whatever is the greatest investment for the greatest number of people, and we can pay for it along the way. you saw that the senate decided that one should not be collecting revenue actually owed by american people. what are they afraid of there? we have the ability to collect what appears to be an
regardless of the technicalities or formalities done correctly, he believed enough in that to give incriminating testimony to say that this was not done properly. what do you make of that? you know, yes, they are describing the prior agreement as almost a handshake agreement, but what clinches it for me is that if there was a handshake agreement for the prosecutor they are not going to prosecute him. the fact of the matter is bill cosby with all of his high-powered lawyers gain testimony in the civil suit that he would not have given if there were no grant of immunity. so it was a quid pro quo, the government got something out of it, the victim andrea constand got something out of it, and bill cosby was also to get something out of it, even if he thought he was innocent, it was the fact that he was not going to be formally charged and prosecuted, which is monumental, everybody got something out of it, and then a dozen years
that s right, chuck. big diplomacy on the home front as he comes in on the infrastructure piece. the 11 republicans onboard will create an important decision for democrats to make. firstly, they have to make sure that the 11 republicans who are supporting this framework are actually going to be supportive of an overall package with details. right now they don t have much. they have a price tag, including new spending and baseline spending and they have a hand shake agreement not to do it. if 11 republicans are there, it is going to put pressure on the biden white house to cut a deal with republicans. but as you point out, he is facing increased anxiety from democrats on the other end of the caucus not just the aocs but senator chuck shawmschumer that could not be used a basis of
