Speaker emerita and democratic congresswoman from california, nancy pelosi. Speaker pelosi, thank you so much for joining us. We appreciate it. So i have to say this was this may have been the highest stakes speech of President Bidens long career in politics. It may have been the highest stakes state of the Union Address that ive ever seen. I think he met the moment. Oh, i think he did definitely. Actually, i should quote him and just say, maybe i should go home right now because i think what he did was spectacular. He did it with vigor. He did it with vision, with patriotism. And i think it was one of the finest state of the Union Addresses i have seen. And ive seen many. So obviously a lot of republicans are critical of it. One of the things that theyre criticizing it for is for being political. And it was a very political state of the Union Address. Well, it had some political aspects to it, mostly generated by the audience saying four more years, but the perhaps amnesia has set in
Actions. Mr. President , enough is enough. Innocent americans are dying and you only have yourself to blame. Fulfill your oath of office. Reverse your policies, end this crisis, and stop up the suffering. Sadly we know that President Bidens failures dont stop there. His reckless spending. Doug our economy into a hole and sent The Cost Of Living through the roof. We have the worst inflation in 40 years and the highest Credit Card Debt in our nations history. Let that sink in. HardWorking Families are struggling to make ends meet today, and with soaring Mortgage Rates and sky high child care cost, theyre also struggling to how to plan for tomorrow. The American People are scraping by. Well, President Biden proudly proclaims that bidenomics is working. Goodness, youll bless his heart. We know better. Ill never forget stopping at a gas station in Chilton County one evening. The gentleman working the counter told me that after retiring, he had to pick up a job in his 70s so that he didnt ha
campaigns, not hour by hour, but minute byou minute, i did have little time for baseball, joe, but most of it was the campaigns, and i saw what was happening. i mean, people, i didn t see many people talk about the prescription drug issue. it was a huge issue. it was one of the issues every one of our candidates pushed on. climate, the youngpu people wit climate and debt ceiling were saying, hey, they re paying attention tohe us at least. not that we re getting everything we want. but a good amount of what we want. so there s a lot to do and we re going to try to get it done. i m going to sit down with my caucus. one of the things i said we re going to try to get done in the lame duck session, the house passed with 35 republican votes marriage equality.ia there are a lot of things. but debt ceiling is something that s importantli but the numb one thing we have to do when we cometo back in the lame governmt is fund the government. government funding runs out at
idea of executive action. we re trying to push as hard as we can for anything we can get through. we ll keep doing that legislatively. that s also why we rolled out an executive action agenda. we re moving both tracks. i m very optimistic on the executive agenda front. i am still hopeful on the legislative front and we re not giving up. look, you make some big promises when they took over a unified government with a narrow majority. by every measure they ve underdelivered. democrats are heading into a mid-term election with campaign promises unfulfilled and asking voters to give them another two years running congress. a big one unfulfilled is the prescription drug issue. with me is leann caldwell, democratic pollster and cornel belcher and senior fellow
and so yes, we do still want to have more for medicare, the vision and the dental. actually, there is still a negotiation on the prescription drug issue and so there is more negotiation that is going on. i m just hopeful that we can get the paid family leave and the prescription drug relief that we need and that we can ensure even greater relief for americans across this country. congresswoman, good to see you. thank you for joining us this morning. democratic congressman judy chu of california. joining us is arnan, and the author of the the elite changing the world. this may be a missed opportunity to change with regard the way we make money in this country and the inequality in this country. what s your take on it.
