Gujarat: No vaccination for 45-plus category for three days amid COVID second wave

AHMEDABAD: With the Centre increasing the gap between two doses of Covishield, vaccination for those above the age of 45 years in Gujarat has been halted for three days from May 14.
The Centre on Thursday approved extending the gap between the two doses of the Covishield vaccine from 6-8 weeks to 12-16 weeks following a recommendation from a government panel.

In view of rising COVID cases, Gujarat on Tuesday decided to enforce night curfew in nine more cities.
These include Himmatnagar, Navsari, Veraval, Valsad, Porbandar, Botad, Viramgam, Chhotaudepur and Palanpur.
The number of cities in Gujarat where the night curfew has been imposed now has increased to 29.
New Delhi: In view of the rising COVID-19 cases, the Gujarat government on Tuesday (April 27, 2021) decided to enforce night curfew in nine more cities and announced new curbs.
The night curfew will be imposed in Himmatnagar, Navsari, Veraval, Valsad, Porbandar, Botad, Viramgam, Chhotaudepur and Palanpur - from April 28. The number of cities in Gujarat where the night curfew has been imposed now has increased to 29.
With the addition of new cases, the count of infections in the state has gone up to 5,24,725 while the death toll reached 6,656, the state health department said.
COVID crisis: Bullets fired during group clash at Gujarat oxygen refilling unit
During the clash, a man, identified as Rajbha Jadeja, took out a revolver and fired three rounds in the ground to intimidate people of the other group, a Bhachau police station official said.

BHUJ: A man fired three bullets from his revolver in the ground during a clash between two groups who had assembled for refilling oxygen cylinders at a plant in Gujarat s Kutch district, police said on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on Monday night after some persons got agitated over a vehicle blocking the way to an oxygen refilling plant in Mota Chirai village near Bhachau town and clashed with another group of people waiting at the outlet, they said.

This is for the first time that the number of fresh coronavirus has crossed the 11,000-mark in a day in Gujarat.

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat recorded 11,403 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, the highest one-day count so far, while 117 patients died due to the infection, the most in a day, the state Health Department said.
This is for the first time that the number of fresh coronavirus has crossed the 11,000-mark in a day in Gujarat.
