Fundraiser will support Guernsey Trail and parks May races will include a half marathon, 10K, 5K and fun run The Daily Jeffersonian The Guernsey County Community Development Corp. and the Great Guernsey Trail will host races on May 15, to raise funds to support the trails and parks. The event which begins at 9 a.m., at the Great Guernsey Trail located at 63500 Corduroy Road, will include a half marathon, a 10K, a 5k and a fun run.  The races not only raise money for the trail and parks but brings people from outside the community in.  They come here and spend money which increases local tax dollars, said Ron Gombeda, community development director.

Additional electric car charging ports coming to downtown The Daily Jeffersonian Cambridge Main Street is working to raise funds to cover the installation costs of two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in the downtown area. Cambridge Main Street, which advocates for downtown businesses, received a donation of two charging units from board member Levi Wade. It is currently conducting a fundraiser to help offset the installation cost. The agency estimates the cost to install each unit more than $1,000 and is trying to raise $3,000 to cover the installation and any extra charges that may occur. Expected costs include permits and licensing, a certified electrician and inspection fees. It plans to contribute some funding to the installation, according to Mary Beth Sills, director of Cambridge Main Street. 

Great Guernsey Trail receives designation as a National Recreation Trail

Submitted to the Daily Jeffersonian Ron Gombeda, executive director of the Guernsey County Community Development Corporation (CDC), recently announced that the Great Guernsey Trail has officially been designated as a National Recreation Trail (NRT). This prestigious recognition is bestowed annually upon trails by the Secretary of the Interior and recognized every two years at the National Trails Symposium. “The NRT designation ensures that the Great Guernsey Trail will be a part of the national database of NRT trails which will provide increased visibility for our trail. In Ohio, there are only 24 trails that have received NRT designation. This is a testament to the prestige of the NRT and the beauty and upkeep of our beloved trail. This designation was made possible thanks to the dedicated ownership and maintenance of trail by the Guernsey County Community Development Corp. (CDC), Gombeda said.
