Additional electric car charging ports coming to downtown

Cambridge Main Street is working to raise funds to cover the installation costs of two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in the downtown area.
Cambridge Main Street, which advocates for downtown businesses, received a donation of two charging units from board member Levi Wade. It is currently conducting a fundraiser to help offset the installation cost.
The agency estimates the cost to install each unit more than $1,000 and is trying to raise $3,000 to cover the installation and any extra charges that may occur. Expected costs include permits and licensing, a certified electrician and inspection fees. It plans to contribute some funding to the installation, according to Mary Beth Sills, director of Cambridge Main Street.
