COLUMBIA, S.C. Prisma Health has reopened walk-in COVID-19 vaccinations for those in phase 1a who do not have computer access.
According to Prisma Health, the walk-ins will be based on vaccine availability and the health system will calculate the walk-in availability every day based on appointments.
Limited walk-in appointments for vaccines will be allowed at the following locations:
Gamecock Park, 22 National Guard Road, Columbia
Kmart site at 1 Kmart Plaza, Greenville
Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital
Prisma Health Laurens County Hospital
Prisma Health Oconee Memorial Hospital

Lawrence DeHart, president of the Terrebonne Churches United Good Samaritan Food Bank in Houma, said the number of people his agency serves has doubled. The year before last, we did 10,500 people, DeHart said. In the last 12 months, we did 21,800.
Catholic Charities Executive Director Nicole Bourgeois said the volume of people fed by the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux has also doubled.

While most Prisma Health hospital vaccination sites are taking a limited number of same-day registration/vaccination, when the patient flow creates unsafe conditions for the community or staff, people will be diverted to the two new large-scale community sites, one in Greenville and one in Columbia (see below). COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - As many South Carolinians are hoping to secure their appointment for the COVID-19 vaccine, Prisma Health is ramping up efforts to get the vaccine administered.
On Friday, officials with Prisma Health announced the company would be opening a community COVID-19 vaccine center in the Midlands.
The drive-thru location will open on January 18 and will be located at 22 National Guard Road at Gamecock Park.
It will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. However, vaccinations will only be given at the site by appointment.
