The Guam Community College is developing an exploratory course in criminal justice for high school students to take advantage of this summer, with the goal of developing a technical program for students to participate in that could lead to a full-on career.
According to GCC President Mary Okada, the summer program is for students who may not have had a chance to pursue career and technical education during the academic year.
Development of the full program for teens will also begin this summer, she said, with the intent of providing 180 hours of work experience and a certificate of mastery upon completion, similar to other high school tracks the school offers.

The University of Guam will increase tuition by 5% in the spring of 2022, but officials said the university plans to use various programs and funding to reduce the strain on students.
The programs include money from the American Rescue Plan and financial aid.
This latest tuition increase is part of a series planned in 2019, after the university suffered a $6.2 million shortfall. It was discussed last week at a legislative budget hearing, where UOG President Thomas W. Krise said it would be necessary.
After the increase was announced, some students voiced their disappointment.
