Students, UOG discuss 5% tuition increase

The University of Guam will increase tuition by 5% in the spring of 2022, but officials said the university plans to use various programs and funding to reduce the strain on students.
The programs include money from the American Rescue Plan and financial aid.
This latest tuition increase is part of a series planned in 2019, after the university suffered a $6.2 million shortfall. It was discussed last week at a legislative budget hearing, where UOG President Thomas W. Krise said it would be necessary.
After the increase was announced, some students voiced their disappointment.
