NORTHAMPTON A local activist group will hold a memorial Tuesday in front of City Hall for George Floyd and others who have lost their lives due to police. Tuesday is the one-year anniversary of Floyd’s death.
The standout, from 4 to 5 p.m., is being organized by Northampton Abolition Now. The group is seeking the creation of a Department of Community Care to take over a number of functions currently handled by police, such as mental health checks, and to cut funding for the police department by 50 percent.
