Syracuse firefighters battle fire in vacant North Side home

Syracuse, NY A two-story vacant home on Syracuse’s North Site was heavily damaged by fire early Friday, according to the Syracuse Fire Department.
Firefighters responded at 12:33 a.m. to the fire at 704 N. Alvord St., the fire department said in a news release.
A passerby called 911 after noticing flames in the home.
Firefighters searched the home and found heavy fire conditions, officials said. No one was found inside, they said.
It took approximately 30 minutes to put out the fire, they said.
Members of the Fire Investigation Bureau are working to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
