Community Shout Out: Central Middle shows love and support

Community Shout Out: Central Middle shows love and support Jake Wateland DEVILS LAKE - On Friday, May 14th, Central Middle had a fundraiser for one of our 7th Grade Students named Gabe Trottier. Gabe recently had a surgery that left him wheelchair bound. To show emotional and financial support for Gabe the school hosted a fundraiser for him and due to many generous students, staff, families and community members we were able to present Gabe and his family with a check for over $17,000. The money will be used to offset medical expenses that will allow for Gabe to be able to return to his home in the near future. The school’s 21st Century Coordinator, Vonnie Quam spearheaded this effort and created many fun activities for our students to participate in as well as hosting a BBQ feed in Gabe s honor.

State Board Votes on Reopening North Carolina Schools

State Board Votes to Reopen N.C. Schools with New Coronavirus Safety Measures PUBLISHED 3:15 PM ET Mar. 04, 2021 PUBLISHED 3:15 PM EST Mar. 04, 2021 SHARE Public schools in North Carolina will be required to offer in-person instruction to all students by the end of March after a vote by State Board of Education members on Thursday. Most school districts in the state have brought some students back into classrooms in some form or another with varying guidelines to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. But some students have not been back in front of teachers in-person for almost a year. New guidelines from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services say public schools should reopen for all K-12 students, require face coverings for all students, and six feet of social distancing for grades six and up.
