taxes and literacy tests, but there s been a wave across the country, so we re in litigation with regard to three states voter id laws, very strict photo id laws that can disenfranchise millions. there are other types of cuts of early voting, all kinds of different types of poll taxes and literacy tests and ways to block the voting rights of people of color. and particularly the elderly as you said, so it seems that this year there s an unprecedented wave of voter suppression laws. a lot of litigation, and millions of voters could be impacted before november. unprecedented. kathy gonzalez, thanks for joining us. please keep us apprised as this heads to the supreme court. i appreciate it. all right, this just in, mitt romney was once the governor of an american state. he has a governing record and everything. so why does nobody ever talk about this? one man who can talk about it with some authority is the last
who love their health care think some of it means highlighting the good and bad. like when mitt romney cut $277 million from local education and $137 million from higher education. which left towns and counties stuck with a heavy share of tack burden. so he does have a governing record. what do we learn if instead of thinking of businessman, we think of gore nor romney. we learn as many people may know, because it s been o rep t repeated. massachusetts 47th in job creation under his tenure it is true there was a 2001 recession that he and all governor has to deal with. so, you know, you can cut him a break for that. on the other hahn, does he cut barack obama a break for the 2008 great resection? not so much.
country. and the idea that one guy will fix all these problems, good luck with that. and one guy who had always been a moderate. if you look at his governing record, always been basically a moderate. young white voters, that was really the key for then senator obama, now president obama. really about young white voters who should who will speak on their behalf. what will you young white people do this time? well, that s sort of what i mean. i m making up my that s what i mean about intersectionality and how incredibly diverse this large group of white voters are. what we have in common, we are young and white, and that s about it. and statistics and generalizations are helpful, but everyone if everyone goes to the polls with a different major concern. there are some single-issue voters, but most people exist at this intersection thinking about the economy, foreign policy, a whole bunch of things.
there s that piece that you have to take into consideration. i sometimes feel like this language of the obamacare is the one thing that republicans did beautifully here that president obama and his administration and re-election campaign did right was to brand. we hear obamacare and believe a bunch of things about it that may or may not be true, but the gop did a great job of setting it up as scary and job killing. it has become a dirty word like moderate is a dirty word. compromise is a dirty word. but you can t forget that mitt romney is basically the godfather of obamacare and what e the did in massachusetts. the conversations they are going to have in the debates, boy, i can t wait. i really am going to love the health care question that will undoubtedly emerge because it will be tough for governor romney to, part of what he s wanted to do is say i m the business guy, but the fact is he does have a governing record that includes a health care plan for massachusetts that loo
and vote. the governor ran on a promise of creating jobs. his campaign promise was that he would create 250,000 jobs. his governing record is he only created 33,000. does this help to create a climate that would in many ways stifle some of those that voted for him and supported him, and helped to energize those that feel that he not only came with trying to go after unions and his whole union busting, but he failed when he came with $33,000 jobs and promised $250,000? that s absolutely right. at 33,000, that s debatable. it s not conducive for business. i don t care what anything has to say.
