would pass comfortably. the overwhelming percentage of the american people support it. shannon: all right, congressman, quick comment from you there. because define what is a clean daca bill. what are we doing with these people? the question is, do you want these people to be given a special pathway to citizenship, or do you want to do what the goodlatte-mccall bill says be a good person, don t get in trouble with the law, don t join a gang, check in every three years and get in line like everybody else. i think the moral authority of this, where we re really missing the beat, with the people who aren t willing to break the law, the people waiting in line trying to do it legally and lawfully. that s the way the dreamers should have to do it without having to cake them out of the country. don t put them on the pathway to citizenship. shannon: the cnn poll that shows all kinds of things bhshgs it comes to daca, 96% of democrats, 72% of republicans want some kind of legal status
a substantive debate in the senate. she introduced a bill to withhold the pay of congress if there is a government shutdown, that s not possible. but congress can t do their job shouldn t get paid. i agree. i agree we shouldn t get paid if we can t do our job. i would support that. shannon: you? i ve signed a letter asking that my pay be withheld until we have a budget resolution. turned in tomorrow. i guess whenever the clerk is open. shannon: you have six minutes. i just signed it before i left the office in anticipation of the worst happening. i did it before when we had the shutdown in 2013. i agree with that, but i also think it s about getting a deal not about not getting paid. i m withholding my own pay until we have a deal. shannon: do you have good friends who are colleague is a cross the aisle, democrats, who you trust that can have conversations about these things that gives you hope there is a common ground? yes, yes, definitely.
