The magical world of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be brought to life by Gladstone students with their Combined Schools musical performance of the family classic.
Generations of Gladstone region children have grown up delighted by the world of pure imagination Willy Wonka created in his marvellous chocolate factory.
Students from across the region are eager to take to the stage of the Gladstone Entertainment and Convention Centre GECC in the musical production.
But, to ensure the musical is a hit and guarantee plentiful “golden” ticket sales by the audience, the production is looking for a professional director.

Gladstone Regional Council has revealed its new look Youth Council featuring 10 of the region’s best minds.
The 2021 Gladstone Region Youth Council members are Aaron Yea, Alexa Marxsen, Brooke Assman (co-chair), Charlise Falconer, Gypsy Cantwell, Layla Dow (co-chair), Rommiel Malig, Stella Porter, Taylah Cubis and William Patrick.
Members of the youth council are based across the region including at Agnes Water, Gladstone, Boyne Island, Tannum Sands, Burua and Calliope.
Ages of youth councillors span from 15 to 20 years old, with seven of the
10 members still attending school.
Because of this, Gladstone Region Youth Council’s annual term is aligned with the Queensland school year.

Juniors and female anglers challenged the men for category wins and glory despite inclement weather at another successful Boyne Tannum Hookup.
Australia’s biggest family fishing competition saw 3666 fishos from across the nation hit the water, vying for $400,000 worth of cash and prizes from April 30 to May 2.
Boyne Tannum Hookup president Jenifer McGuire said after the 2020 Hookup was held virtually due to COVID, anglers of all ages were keen to enter.
“Hookup started 26 years-ago with Boyne Tannum business owners highlighting that the area needed something to keep people in the region over a long weekend,” she said.

Gladstone Regional Council and Gladstone Ports Corporation have thanked the Federal Government for $10m in funding that will help industry, tourism and economic growth.
Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack was in Gladstone on Tuesday to announce the funding for a hydrogen knowledge centre and to beautify Auckland Hill.
Gladstone region Mayor Matt Burnett said the investment would provide the community with many opportunities and thanked the Australian Government for its commitment to strengthening the area’s economic and tourism growth.
“Council recently facilitated the transfer of Auckland Hill to the Gladstone Ports Corporation to enable further development of the East Shores precinct,” Mr Burnett said.

A contract will be awarded by Gladstone Regional Council this month for the replacement of three water mains in work that will take until May 2022.
Councillors voted on awarding the contract to NTS Group at the recent council meeting.
The three water mains are located in the Gladstone CBD, New Auckland and Clinton.
Tenders for the replacement of the water mains on Sandpiper Avenue, Aerodrome Road and Auckland Street closed on March 9, with four submissions received.
Each submission was assessed by council staff on criteria including price, local content, understanding council requirements, past projects and timing.
