A contract will be awarded by Gladstone Regional Council this month for the replacement of three water mains in work that will take until May 2022.
Councillors voted on awarding the contract to NTS Group at the recent council meeting.
The three water mains are located in the Gladstone CBD, New Auckland and Clinton.
Tenders for the replacement of the water mains on Sandpiper Avenue, Aerodrome Road and Auckland Street closed on March 9, with four submissions received.
Each submission was assessed by council staff on criteria including price, local content, understanding council requirements, past projects and timing.

Ratepayers across the Gladstone Local Government Area have been meeting their obligations with outstanding rates almost halved over the past six months, from a peak of $27.1 million.
Since November 2020, when The Gladstone Observer reported on the outstandings, ratepayers have coughed up $13 million, reducing the outstandings to $14.1 million.
The latest figures were reported to Gladstone Regional Council during its most recent meeting.
Council is in a better position recouping rates compared to what was owed at the same time in 2020, with 7.66 per cent of total rates levied owed, compared to 8.77 per cent last year.
Residential ratepayers still account for the bulk of the outstanding rates.

Men are more susceptible than women to reproductive tract infections from COVID rendering some infertile, new research has found.
Scientists from the Australian and New Zealand Society of Reproductive Endocrinology have combined with the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine for the research on the virus’ impacts on fertility.
Their research was presented this week at the 10th Congress of the Asia Pacific Initiative on Reproduction ASPIRE.
Reproductive medicine specialist Associate Professor Virgilio Novero said research had found COVID disrupts the protective role of an enzyme on the surface of many cells.

A Tannum Sands woman is using her own battle experiencing breast cancer and a mastectomy as the driving force behind her townâs Motherâs Day Classic fun run.
Christmas was approaching when mother of two Jess Smith and her husband Mark got the shocking news she had been diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer in 2018.
But the school teacher tackled the potentially life-and-death battle head-on for her family.
âI had breast cancer, diagnosed in November 2, 2018 and it was inflammatory breast cancer,â Jess said.
âInitially they were going to start with a mastectomy, then they sent me for a scan and they found 10 masses.â

Subscriber only A man is recovering in Gladstone Hospital after reportedly suffering an electric shock while at work on Friday night. Queensland Ambulance Service said paramedics were called to a workplace off Handley Drive, Boyne Island, at 9.38pm after reports a man in his 40s had suffered an electric shock. Paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was taken to Gladstone Hospital in a stable condition. A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman could not confirm the identity of the workplace off Handley Drive, Boyne Island. The Gladstone Observer has contacted Boyne Smelters Limited for a statement to determine if the incident occurred there.
