The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic crash Friday morning involving a Mount Gilead area teen.
Landon Hanahan, 18, was driving a 2006 Jeep Liberty northbound on County Road 30 in Gilead Township, Morrow County, around 5:45 a.m., the patrol reported in a news release.
Hanahan went off the right side of the roadway, striking a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, the patrol said.
Troopers with the Mount Gilead Post investigating the crash determined Hanahan was not wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected as factors in the crash, the patrol said.

BRONSON, MI (WTVB) â A suspect was arraigned Monday in Branch County District Court after he allegedly threatened his former girl friend and her current boyfriend with a knife in the suspect’s Gilead Township residence.
31-year-old Aundra Smolek was formally charged by prosecutors with two counts of unlawful imprisonment, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and a count of domestic violence.
He was being held in the Branch County Jail on a $50,000 bond. Smolek’s probable cause hearing in District Court was scheduled for January 7 with a preliminary exam set for January 12.
Michigan State Police say the incident took place at a home on Stoney Point Drive.
