MANISTEE COUNTY The Manistee County Board of Commissioners will discuss updates to the county’s strategic plan during their regular monthly meeting on July 20.
Initially enacted in 2014, the previous plan expired in 2019. The strategic plan provides long-term guidance and establishes priorities for decision makers in the county.
County Treasurer Rachel Nelson will deliver her second quarter report to the board, which will also hear an annual report from Networks Northwest chief executive officer Matt McCauley.

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) â Branch County has been trying in recent weeks to get enough governmental units in the county to agree to having a local Designated Assessor.
There was a December 31 deadline to get a majority of ten units on board but as of that date only nine units had agreed.
Branch County Administrator Bud Norman told the Board of Commissioners during their work session on Thursday they are waiting to hear back from the State of Michigan on a request to extend a deadline.

∫ The Alpena County Board of Commissioners voted to accept a $5,000 Michigan Department of Natural Resources Snowmobile grant for the sheriff’s office. The county’s match is $750. The board also voted to allow the sheriff’s office to seek bids for a Tru Narc Handheld Analyzer, as well as spending $129 to have Charter Spectrum internet hooked up at the new jail.
It also approved the 2021 attorney contract for $158,000 and approved the claims audit of Dec. 8, 2020 for $132,512.56
∫ The Presque Isle County Board of Commissioners voted to accept the Interlocal Agreement for Designated Assessor with Alan Berg with the township’s and cities in the county, and authorized the chairman to sign the agreement for legal services between Presque Isle County and Michael Vogler and James Gilbert in the amount of $66,000.00 for the 2021 year.
