The Congolese Community in cedar rapids is dealing with the sudden loss of three lives. Many gathered last night in a church to remember them. Michka kabeya, platini namputu, and dickson mandiki, all from the democratic republic of the congo, died in a crash on us highway 30 near keystone early thursday morning. They were among 9 people who were traveling to work in tama in a minivan, when the iowa state patrol says it hit ice and lost control. Singing members and representativ es of the Congolese Community sang prayers and talked about Funeral Plans at Central Assembly of god church. People there say they need any prayer support for the others still recovering from the crash, and donations to cover burial costs. Peter nkumu says people came together to get more information. One person is dead and two others are hurt this morning from a shooting on a Tennessee College campus. It happened at Tennessee State university in nashville, where Police Say Two men may have been gambling. They say the person who died was not a student. Authorities have not said if they found the shooter. Just over a week ago, three people were hurt in a shooting across the street from the same college. Dubuque wants to make the city safer. So far this year, police say theyve taken nearly 30 reports of gunfire. So a Nonprofit Organization looked for help from someone across the pond. The group invited an officer who works in the scottish Violence Reduction unit to talk about making the city safer. The Scottish Government says last year, it recorded its lowest level of crime in 40 years. Many credit the low rate to some of the toughest gun control laws in the world.
