From kin of farmers who have died in the ongoing farmers’ agitation to the kin of those killed in the Amritsar train accident in 2018, the past weekend has seen a flurry of activity in the state, with the government asking officials concerned to immediately provide them jobs in Group “C” and “D” on the basis of their educational qualification. Letters have been sent out from the state government headquarters to all Deputy Commissioners for immediate action on these compassionate appointments.

LUDHIANA: Punjab Youth Development Board (PYDB) chairman Sukhwinder Singh Bindra on Sunday claimed that the Ludhiana industry has assured more than 20,000 jobs to local youth in the next few months. He also lauded the contribution of Ludhiana industry for always supporting Punjab government’s flagship ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar’ scheme. The PYDB chairman held a meeting with several representatives of Ludhiana industry at the Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU) complex. The meeting was attended by all office bearers of CICU including president Upkar Singh Ahuja, general secretary Pankaj Sharma along with representatives of associations related to knitwear, shawl, blanket, plywood, dyeing, processing and furnace industries.

Dubai: Hundreds of Indian nurses, whose plight after falling prey to a recruitment scam in the midst of COVID-19 came to light in May, got a new lease of life when private health care groups in the UAE offered them jobs within just a couple of weeks. As reported by Gulf News earlier, around 230 of those nurses stranded here were offered jobs and a chance to secure their licence within the next three months. While the generosity of health care establishments in the UAE saved the lives and careers of the nurses, what actually got them trapped begs a closer look.
