incidents and finding drivers moving at speed traveling 395 in virginia making their way all the way to the 14th street bridge. okay. andrea, bret, back to you. new troubles this morning for families hit hardest last week in gaithersburg by those fierce storms. many are displaced because a large tree split their apartment building in half. they have been staying at a nearby hotel but as armando trull tells us, they are now being told it is time to move out. reporter: this gaithersburg comfort inn is where the red cross put up dozens of families after last week s storm brought an 80-foot oak crashing down on to the flowers pardon me building demolishing the top two floors. we cannot go back in the building because it has been condemned. reporter: over the weekend the nearly 50 displaced residents has unwelcome news that has them scrambling. they told us monday you have to be out of here. okay. we don t have nowhere to go. there s families here with children that ar
the severity of the injuries, some reports particularly out of germany where the pilots were based, german nationals, and lufthansa has a cargo division in germany and they had flown in from frankfurt. it s said that the pilot and copilot were okay and i m reading other reports thatry were rushed to a riyhad hospital, a military hospital and are not okay. it may be difficult to get reports out of this. the flight, an indy cargo plane was giving 11 tons of unspecified cargo so we don t know what ignited so quickly but whatever it was was fast burning, this plane, cut in half, and jon, i know you re a pilot, you know a lot about this sort of stuff, what causes a plane on impact to split in two? jon: it depends on what was burning, how hot and how fiery it was. they may have stuffed that plane very hard, and if it was were weakened, if there was a flame already in the cargo hold, it could easily split in half, obviously, aluminum melts at fairly low temperature and the aircraft
