It was history indeed for Diciano as she became the first female pilot of the Philippine Coast Guard.
“During that time in 2005, they were looking for the first female pilot po. I just submit my requirements, baon ko lang po ‘yung lakas ng loob at tiwala sa Diyos (I just have the courage and trust in God). In God’s grace and the wisdom given to my leaders [in] the deliberation, I was able to qualify po and the rest was history,” she told Manila Bulletin.

PCG Commandant Admiral George Ursabia Jr. and Calayan Island Mayor Joseph Llopis have signed the deed of donation of the 1,000 square-meter land area in the island on Tuesday, March 9.
“The establishment of Coast Guard stations and/or sub-stations at an approximately 1,000-square-meter land area in the island will not only enhance maritime law enforcement, maritime security, maritime safety, maritime search and rescue, and marine environmental protection in the norther part of Luzon, but also in the waters of the West Philippine Sea,” the Coast Guard said in a statement.

In a virtual press briefing Wednesday, March 3, officials from the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), and the Cebu Ports Authority (CPA) laid out the latest developments and plans of their respective agencies amid the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
PPA General Manager Jay Daniel Santiago said that the agency remains committed in building and developing port projects across the archipelago, as infrastructure projects remain crucial in the inter-zonal movement of people and goods across the country.

Expect strict security measures in all ports in the coming days as the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Wednesday, March 3, that it will implement measures to secure travellers for the Holy Week.
“We are preparing our K9 units, harbor patrollers, ship inspectors, and medical teams to ensure the safety, security, and convenience of our sea going public,” said PCG commandant Admiral George Ursabia Jr. in a virtual presser.

“We are also mastering our coastal security and rescue personnel to be deployed in marine tourist destinations,” he added.
Ursabia Jr. said more people are expected to travel this Holy Week compared to the Christmas season last year due to more relaxed travel restrictions. He said Coast Guard vessels and air assets are ready for operations if needed.
