Rajasthan Royals do homework on Chris Morris’s fitness

New Delhi, Feb 19 (IANS) While Rajasthan Royals (RR) have shelled out a fortune on Chris Morris, they have taken precautionary measures over the fitness of the South African fast bowling all-rounder.
Morris could play only nine matches for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2020 season in the UAE due to fitness problems. He was released by RCB before this year’s auction and RR bought him.
“In terms of medical expertise, we have John Gloster and team doctor talking with Morris’s physio and trainers. We conducted a study on what really impacted him in the past and in terms of the chain scenario or in terms of Covid or restrictions it imposes and how that might impact our season this year,” Kumar Sangakkara, Director of Cricket at RR, told the media on Friday.

Pak supports Modi’s 5 proposals for regional cooperation on Covid-19

New Delhi/Islamabad, Feb 18 (IANS) In an unusual move, Pakistan on Thursday supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s five proposals on making South Asia a Covid-19 free region.
Official sources told IANS that at the health secretary-level SAARC virtual workshop held on the management of Covid-19, where Pakistan was invited, there was a complete consensus on Prime Minister Modi’s ideas.
In his address to the SAARC officials earlier on Thursday, Modi had made a strong pitch for regional cooperation in combating Covid-19. He had proposed the member countries to consider creating a special visa scheme for regional doctors and nurses so that they can travel quickly within the region during health emergencies on the request of the receiving countries.

New Delhi, Feb 16 (IANS) The Myanmar diaspora has gone global in their protests against the military coup in their homeland by staging demonstrations in countries like Japan, Taiwan, India and Thailand.
The Myanmarese diaspora is protesting in Tokyo outside the Japan Foreign Ministry office asking the Japanese government to condemn the army action in Myanmar. Japan enjoys close relations with Myanmar as it has been providing development aid, setting up industrial projects and even talking to the Arakan Army rebels with a view to bringing stability to Myanmar. Japan has also been involved in promoting the democratic process in Myanmar along with ensuring that different ethnic communities are not left behind in the country.
