One of the main outreach organizations for the Twin Ports homeless population has hired a new executive director.
John Cole will head up CHUM starting June 1. He comes to Duluth from Align Minneapolis, a nonprofit that works with people experiencing homelessness there.
A press release said that Align has a similar structure to CHUM. It is also comprised of a variety of congregations.
He was born in the Caribbean and came to Minnesota in 2011. He founded Friends Hotline of Antigua and Barbuda, a nongovernment organization that supports youth in crisis. I have a great appreciation for the human spirit, Cole said in the release. I m passionate about serving and have a calling to serve.

The agency, which addresses homelessness in Duluth, will be led by someone who ran a similar organization in Minneapolis.

CHUM, a faith-based organization that serves homeless people in Duluth, has named a new executive director.
John Cole, currently the interim director at Align Minneapolis also a faith-based homelessness organization will begin June 1 and replace current executive director Lee Stuart, who plans to retire June 30, CHUM said in a news release Wednesday.
Cole, born in the Caribbean, came to Minnesota in 2011 after founding Friends Hotline of Antigua and Barbuda, a nongovernmental organization supporting youth in crisis. At the same time, he was youth director for the Diocese of North Eastern Caribbean and Aruba of the Anglican Church.
