One of the main outreach organizations for the Twin Ports homeless population has hired a new executive director.
John Cole will head up CHUM starting June 1. He comes to Duluth from Align Minneapolis, a nonprofit that works with people experiencing homelessness there.
A press release said that Align has a similar structure to CHUM. It is also comprised of a variety of congregations.
He was born in the Caribbean and came to Minnesota in 2011. He founded Friends Hotline of Antigua and Barbuda, a nongovernment organization that supports youth in crisis.
"I have a great appreciation for the human spirit," Cole said in the release. "I'm passionate about serving and have a calling to serve."
