The blazing summer heat is threatening the health and safety of millions of americans from coasttocoast. In the eastern half of the country more than 141 million are under a heat warning or advisory. In the far west, thousands have been forced to flee wildfires fed by the heat. The areas in dark red are where the heat and humidity combine to make it feel as if its in the 90s or triple digits. Its called the heat index and it was over 100 in new york, philadelphia, washington, baltimore, and chicago. On the west coast, a wildfire 100 miles east of los angeles is threatening more than 4,000 houses and other structures. At least six homes have been destroyed and 6,000 people have been forced to leave the area. Bill whitaker is there. And now we are learning that the hospital dallas worker tested positive for the ebola virus. Something people were concerned about. We dont know if this hospital worker had seen patient number one in the United States before he had tested positive for ebola. Obviously, this is something we are very concerned about. And a lot of Health Experts including the cdc say transmission in america with properly protected workers was almost impossible. So disturbing news this morning that, in fact, unfortunately, one Health Worker in dallas has been infected with ebola. With the airborne issue, right . We are hearing we dont know exactly what it was, the direct contact with bodily fluid, thats what we have been hearing. You cant get it through the air, we dont have to worry about that.
