[music] it started just before we came on the air last sunday. instantly mushroomed into an all out warfare with the media flatly calling president trump a racist. which he strongly denies pretty went up to the four democratic freshman congresswomen. alexandria ocasio-cortez, ilhan omar, ayanna pressley and rashida tlaib. all but omar born in the u.s. would want to go back and fix the totally broken crime infested places from which they came then come back and show us how it was done. aoc called at the hallmark loggia white supremacists and feels comfortable in the gop into outright racism. and each side ratcheted up
a-plus choice. democrats will go after him. as we know now, this president has levelled racist tweets against these four freshman congresswomen and then the chants at the rally. now we have these comments that he made about the mayor in puerto rico, calling her despicable and incompetent. how are these comments going over, especially considering the fact that this is another female leader of color? it is nothing new. president trump has gone after the san juan playmayor in the p. he got backlash and that is not enough to stop him. it is another woman of color. that does not bode well for him. it just seems racist, if you will. he continues to go after these women of color and continues to go after the same people, people who disagree with him. who are critical of him.
four votes cast next year in democratic primaries around the country. so that advantage for biden is the reason he is still the overall leader in the democratic race. and the question, morgan, it raises obviously is how durable, how sustainable is that going to be for joe biden? which is also interesting why we see these other candidates now picking up their courtship of those african-american votes. and joining me is the former governor of colorado, john hickenlooper. thank you so much for being with us. glad to be with you. you have a big debate coming up, but before we get into that, the news that dominated this week, president s attacks on those four freshman congresswomen. this is not the first time he has displayed this ability to infuriate and enrage people with racist comments. you know, this is clearly a political strategy. and i think, you know, you ve got to be very blubt and say
[ inaudible question ] i don t know if it s good or bad politically. i don t care. but when people are speaking so badly, when they call our country garbage, think of that. that s worse than deplorable. when they call our country garbage, i don t care about politics. i don t care if it s good or bad about politics. many people say it s good. i don t know if it s good or bad. i can tell you this. you can t talk that way about our country. not when i m the president. the president criticized these women. he said that some of these congressmembers referred to the country they called it garbage. here is your fact check for folks at home. in march of this year alexandria ocasio-cortez, one of the four freshman congresswomen about whom he speaks was talking about guaranteed health care, $15
night, but that was a packed arena. we could have sold ten of those arenas last night. it was quite a chant. and i felt a little bit badly about it. but i will say this. i did, and i started speaking very quickly. but it started up rather fast. okay. but compare that to the tape of the actual rally from last night. watch this. obviously and importantly, omar has a history of launching vicious anti-semitic screens.
