Mike Ontiveroz is confident he will become the next village president of Glendale Heights, despite incumbent Linda Jackson s efforts to keep the seat.
On Thursday, Ontiveroz had a 57-vote lead over Chodri Ma Khokhar with 877 votes counted, according to unofficial results from the DuPage County clerk s office. Votes for Jackson haven t been counted because of an April 2 decision by the Illinois Supreme Court that removed her name from Tuesday s ballot.
Now Jackson is asking the state high court to reconsider its ruling that she did not have enough signatures on her nominating petitions to be a candidate.
Appellate court puts Glendale Heights candidate back on ballot

Glendale Heights voters will have a choice of four people to be the next village president after all.
The Illinois 2nd District Appellate Court ruled Monday that Chodri Khokhar should be put back on the April 6 ballot.
In January, the village s electoral board considered a resident s challenge to the election petitions Khokhar submitted. The challenger, Matthew Corbin, argued Khokhar did not have enough signatures because, Corbin contended, some of the signatures were invalid. The board disagreed, saying the DuPage County clerk s office had reviewed the signatures in question and determined enough of them were valid, and that Corbin had not presented evidence showing the clerk s office was incorrect.

Longtime Glendale Heights Village President Linda Jackson gets to stay on the April 6 ballot, as does opponent Ed Pope.
However, a third candidate for the seat, Chodri Khokhar, has been removed.
Thursday, DuPage County Judge Bonnie Wheaton denied a request to overrule the decisions of the village s electoral board regarding Pope and Jackson.
Matthew Corbin had objected to the nomination petitions of Jackson, Pope and Khokhar, saying they had not collected enough signatures and should be taken off the ballot. The electoral board refused to do so.
According to the annual Gallup survey released Tuesday, President Trump has ended former President Obama’s 12-year run as the most admired man in America.
Eighteen percent of the survey’s respondents named Trump as their most admired man, compared to 15 percent who named Obama and 6 percent named President-elect Joe Biden. In other words, Joe Biden, Mr. 84 million votes, was a distant third.
Three percent named National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci, while 2 percent chose Pope Francis.
We would give Fauci and the Red Pope no points.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, and the Dalai Lama, all received 1 percent.
