But the election that made Chodri Khokhar village president is not over in the eyes of two other candidates, including the longtime incumbent, Linda Jackson.   Mike Ontiveroz has requested a partial recount of the official results from the April 6 election that show Khokhar defeating him by only two votes. And Jackson, who had served as village president since 1999, has filed a federal lawsuit after her reelection bid was cut short because the Illinois Supreme Court removed her name from the ballot.

Days after the April 6 election, unofficial results showed Ontiveroz with a 57-vote lead over Chodri Ma Khokhar. But Khokhar gained ground as vote-by-mail ballots came in.   Now unofficial results show Khokhar with 475 votes and Ontiveroz with 473. The DuPage County clerk is scheduled to certify the results on Tuesday. On Thursday, Ontiveroz said he has enlisted the help of attorney Andrew Finko to pursue a discovery recount.

But a resident may challenge the outcome of the Glendale Heights village president race, where Chodri Ma Khokhar has just two more votes than Mike Ontiveroz.   Tuesday was the last day for the county clerk to receive and tally any vote-by-mail ballots that were postmarked by April 6. The clerk will officially certify the results on Tuesday, April 27.

On Thursday, Ontiveroz had a 57-vote lead over Chodri Ma Khokhar with 877 votes counted, according to unofficial results from the DuPage County clerk s office. Votes for Jackson haven t been counted because of an April 2 decision by the Illinois Supreme Court that removed her name from Tuesday s ballot.   Now Jackson is asking the state high court to reconsider its ruling that she did not have enough signatures on her nominating petitions to be a candidate.
