you know lawrence a former student at angelo state university in texas tells nbc she heard the exact same song at a different frat in 1973 or 74. another man reports hearing that song in texas tech in 63, and yet another heard a similar chant at the university of georgia in 61. and i note that one of the two that were expelled here in this case said we were taught this song or taught this chant. how far could this go back? well i think that s the thing that always gets me. i think we re always surprised by incidents that actually happen when they really go back as far as the early 20s, and not just specifically this particular song but in terms of for example, fraternity members painting their faces back in 1916 in blackface and talking
people on the fraternity s lawn called protesters apes and monkeys. a spokesperson says they have done their own investigation and found that people yelling these things were on a nearby sidewalk and not on house property and were not fraternity members. the local chapter says that any new witnesses should come forward and members should be swiptly punished if found to have been involved although at this point there s no proof that any members were involved. also new today, the sae chapter booted off campus of the university of oklahoma after it sang a racist chant is reportedly planning legal action against the security and possibly the university president. the group reportedly has hired a high profile attorney to challenge that decision. joined now by john k. kelly, an attorney in many high profile cases. does this frat if they are hiring stephen jones, a high
sooners, in duct tape with unheard written on them. symbolic protesters say, of long standing silence at ou of racism on campus. in a moment the university president says the silence is not an option. but sigma alpha epsilon said the racist chant that got the local chapter closed it was nothing new. it was sung by sae brothers for three or four years. there will never be a [ bleep ] at sae. as you know, two frat brothers have been expelled from ou. more expulsions could be coming. we spoke with the man who ordered them david bor. so president bourne, saying that racist chant has been used at their chapter at your university for three to four years.
