We really cant implement whats in the plan before the eir has been finalized and that point should have been made with fish and wildlife. This is the project that don was describing a little bit earlier. The sharp park sharp park is a unique project, a park for the city. Its located in pacifica but [speaker not understood] but is owned by San Francisco. It includes 27 acres of wetlands. You can barely see it in the image above. Thats the entire area of sharp park and the wetlands located to the west of [speaker not understood] in the blue area next to the coast. It also has a number of special status species including the california red legged frog and the San Francisco garter snake. As don mentioned the fish and wildlife has provided us with a biological opinion and that includes 32 mitigation or cultivation measures. One of which is the up land Habitat Restoration. Changes that ive seen in the neighborhood in terms of access to open space in fact, all of them have been for the worst. And i just wanted to talk to you about them and my ideas of how to address them. When i raised my kids in West Portal Playground there was a woman, i think her name was pat, who was on staff every day starting early in the morning, and she would literally rake the sand every day, every morning so that when the kids got there, any objects that might be in the sand had been removed. And she would sweep the sand on the sidewalk so that the kids could run around. That person there is no person like that any more. Nobody cleans out the sand. The rec center is usually closed. Theres nobody there keeping the place clean and neat. And i guess thats for lack of money, which is a shame and later on in the program were going to be theres going to be some discussion of funding for some other things. And i would say its a higher priority to have somebody there keeping the place c

And i just wanted to talk to you a little bit about west portal today and what i perceive to be the park needs of that neighborhood, which is a real family neighborhood. I mean, i chose that neighborhood because of the open space in the area, very green. It had two parks within each walking distance of our home. Mount davidson and West Portal Playground, and my children both went to west Portal School. And, so, i just some of the changes that ive seen in the neighborhood in terms of access to open space in fact, all of them have been for the worst.
