and every day. sounded like she was just there having fun with the kids. my niece was there with them. she was ten years old. she was there spending the night. valencia says unique put her four and five-year-old son, plus her niece to bed. when they woke up, she was gone. valencia believes whoever took her daughter was someone unique knew and trusted. only her keys and cell phone, which hasn t been used were missing. my daughter doesn t have her glasses. i still have her glasses. she can t even see that far ahead of her without her glasses. dc police say it is an unusual missing persons case. they say nothing about unique or the case fits the profile of someone who would leave on purpose. she was devoted to her family and most importantly, her children. she has not had any contact with them since then. she wasn t suffering from any disabilities or illnesses at the time that you would normally connect with somebody who might be missing and she doesn t have a history
could have been prevented. plus a tornado ripped apart a north carolina store packed with people, the local man who helped with the rescue operation joins us live. and maryland is mourning the loss of a political icon, a look back at the life and legendary career of william donald schaefer. we ll begin with the major damage done at the historic georgetown waterfront. thanks for joining us. i m brian bolter. and i m shawn yancy. the waters of the potomac flooded restaurants and businesses leaving behind a giant mess. we ve learned it could have been prevented. fox 5 s will thomas is following this developing story tonight. reporter: good evening. high tide out here was 8:30 this morning but the water started rushing in the washington complex about 7 a.m. at the highest levels about 10 to 12 feet of water flooded the area. behind me you ll see they re pumping water out right now. you ll also notice the areas right between the white pillars. those are the flood walls.
somebody is doing something. reporter: in annapolis, sally jameson told fellow lawmakers it s time for a change in the law. all of the people depicted in that video are maryland residents. many of them from your own communities. reporter: at least 29 of the consumers complained to the maryland attorney general s office but that fox 5 investigation revealed the maryland consumer protection act helps people purchaseing, not selling like the consumers who dealt with we buy cars. we thank you for doing that and you help to highlight that this was a problem. reporter: now, jameson s introduced housebill 128 that would expand the law to protect not just buyers but sellers, too. and he was really happy. there is people trying to take care of the loophole. reporter: and the gentlemen you saw there, said getting his money back changed his life. he and his fiance are planning a wedding and looking for a house and these are things he could not have done if he was $16,000 i
crime puts the hospital into lockdown mode for hours. police searched every inch of the building but came up empty handed. audrey. reporter: maureen, montgomery county police are calling this death a homicide. the victim s body is now on its way to the medical examiner s office in baltimore. here in the hospital it s back to business as usual. montgomery county police swarmed suburban hospital after getting a call this morning of an assault inside the facility. they arrived within one minute. there they found a 40-year- old male employee of the hospital who had been assaulted, received trauma to the upper body. he was found in an area inside the hospital, nonpatient care area. he was pronounced dead at the scene. reporter: the facility was put on lockdown while investigators went room by room looking for a suspect. we immediately put into effect our disaster protocol. so after we locked down we started a series of e-mail streams to all hospital staff informing them ev
