crime puts the hospital into lockdown mode for hours. police searched every inch of the building but came up empty handed. audrey. >> reporter: maureen, montgomery county police are calling this death a homicide. the victim's body is now on its way to the medical examiner's office in baltimore. here in the hospital it's back to business as usual. montgomery county police swarmed suburban hospital after getting a call this morning of an assault inside the facility. they arrived within one minute. >> there they found a 40-year- old male employee of the hospital who had been assaulted, received trauma to the upper body. he was found in an area inside the hospital, nonpatient care area. he was pronounced dead at the scene. >> reporter: the facility was put on lockdown while investigators went room by room looking for a suspect. >> we immediately put into effect our disaster protocol. so after we locked down we started a series of e-mail streams to all hospital staff informing them every 15 minutes what was going on. >> reporter: detectives didn't find anyone. they would not say if this was a random act or if the victim knew his killer. after four hours of searching they determined there was no threat. >> today the police conducted a thorough investigation of suburban hospital from top to bottom, and they feel confident that there's no donger at suburban hospital for patients, visitors or staff. >> reporter: the only information the hospital is releasing about the 40-year-old male employee who was killed here today is that he's worked they would not say in what capacity. police are still investigating. maureen, back to you. >> i know this investigation is still very early but did they have any indication that these two may have known each other and this was perhaps a targeted attack. >> reporter: no they want say, mor reerngs whether or not they thought this was random or even if the victim might have known his killer. that's information they wouldn't release to us. there are some clues from the way they handled this. after searching for four hours they were pretty convinced that the person they were looking for was not here at the hospital. that leads to you believe that they know who they're looking for. so far that person is not in custody. >> audrey barnes, thank you for that update. meanwhile investigators say pilot error prompted the evacuation of several buildings when a small plane crossed into restricted airspace. fighter jets were scrambled. the all-clear was given about 30 minutes later once the plane reestablished contact with air traffic controllers, then landed at reagan. a man is dead after a fire in his temple hills home. the prince george's county fire department found the man inside the home. a violent car accident on i- 95 killed a man in beltsville this morning. investigators say his car crashed into a light pole about 8:30. the impact was so bad the car actually split in half. the driver was trapped but by the time rescuers got to him it was too late to save him. police are on alert after the service weapon and badge of an officer was stolen this afternoon. police say a d.c. officer was pumping gas when someone stole her purse out of her car. the gun and that badge were inside. it's believed the suspects fled in a newer model mercedes. the death toll in the midwest rising in the wake of a severe storm outbreak. officials say a missouri woman died of the injuries she suffered when her home was hit by a tornado. a friend of the victim and two other women also died. so far seven people have been killed in the string of storms. parts of mississippi, florida, and. luckily nothing like that going on around here today but some of the rain from those storms could make its way into our area the new year bringing terror to egypt where an attack targeted crutches worshiping as the clock struck midnight. heather childers has the details. >> reporter: a deadly homicide attack on the first day of 2011 in egypt. a powerful bomb exploding in front of a christian church about 30 minutes after midnight local time. more than 20 people were killed and about 80 others were injured. happened as worshipers emerged from a new year's mass in the city of alexandria. the bombing comes in the midst of repeated threats to attack minority christians. the country's president vowing to track down those behind the attack. >> i assure the whole world and all egyptians that the terrorists are not going to suck side in threatening egypt and threatening the unity of the muslims and christians yearlong. fox's jennifer davis has their story. >> reporter: workouts haven't been the same for marine marcus wilson since an ed in iraq forever changed his life. >> it took me awhile to get to the point where i was mentally strong enough to push past that and to move on my life. >> reporter: it's taken him awhile to regroup after a multitude of injuries and having his left leg amputated. >> you go through the stage where you feel like worthless. you feel helpless, because you can't do anything for yourself. literally, i couldn't scratch my own face for like two months. >> reporter: he's come a long stronger thanks to a program called rehabbing with the troops run by a nonprofit called pro versus gi joe. it sets up workouts on video systems like the wii, then connects participants with players from the saints, chargers, and redskins. >> the guys are working out with them, and it does give me incentive. members create a virtual community by posting their stats, pictures, and blogs on- line. they meet current and retired pros in. >> having them do the workout with me, it's like, oh, look, drew brees is doing the workout with me. it's just very motivating. >> and weekly group workouts create a community of support so they realize they aren't alone in their recovery. >> i can look at my buddy here, and he's doing a race, or the run. he does it faster than me. that motivates me to do it faster than him. >> so far the group has helped about 85 wounded warriors. they're hoping to eventually work with 50 to 75 per season. >> they are from every branch of service, and they are connecting in a way that they. >> it's the camaraderie and encouragement. i'm working out with people my children's age. >> the beauty of this program is it helps warriors get stronger tmp. >> i'm
