Bernard Gregory CAULFIELD, Congress, IL (1828-1887) CAULFIELD Bernard Gregory , a Representative from Illinois; born in Alexandria, Va., October 18, 1828; received a classical education; was graduated from Georgetown College, Washington, D.C., in 1848 and from the law department of the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia in 1850; was admitted to the bar in 1850 and commenced the practice of law in Lexington, Ky.; moved to Chicago, Ill., in 1853 and continued the practice of his profession; elected as a Democrat to the Forty-third Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of John B.
