But for 10 years, that’s just what the professional chorus has called itself. Until now.
“It’s a mouthful,” admits chorus president Patricia “Pi” Rice. “And it’s hard to remember. It doesn’t have a hook.”
Chorus leaders hope to change that with a new focus and a shorter, catchier name: Choral Artistry.
That change was a long time coming, Rice says. But it wasn’t easy.
“It was a painful process,” she says. “Trying to rename yourself when you’re 10 years old is really hard. We went through many, many thoughts and ideas, and we landed on Choral Artistry.”

The musicians and orchestra leaders are understandably excited about their return to the hall. But there’s also a hint of cautious optimism, especially for Executive Director Amy Ginsburg.
The pandemic has burned them before, after all, including Kabaretti’s original farewell concert on May 2, 2020, when he was scheduled to conduct a show with pop-rock star Ben Folds.
“Logically, I know it’s happening,” Ginsburg says about their return to Mann Hall. “But I won’t believe it until we’re there. And I say that with the most positive attitude. I really do.
“It’s kind of like you’re a little kid and your parents tell you that they’re taking you to Disney World. And you just don’t want to believe it until you actually get there.”
