COLUMBIA, S.C. People traveling north on I-77 around the southeastern part of Columbia need to be aware of an accident that has all lanes blocked from near Mile Marker 10 (Fort Jackson Blvd) to Exit 9 (Garners Ferry Rd)
The incident began around 5:36 a.m.
South Carolina Highway Department reports a tanker truck went off the roadway and hit the guardrail. The tractor-trailer then overturned into the road where it was hit by two other vehicles.
There were no injuries.
Clean up is expected to take several more hours. Motorists are asked to find an alternative route and to expect delays while crews on the scene work to clear the roadway.

KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. One man is dead and another is in custody after a shooting in Kershaw County on Thursday morning.
36-year-old Vidal Bastein of New York died from injuries sustained in the shooting, according to Kershaw County Coroner David West.
Deputies said the shooting happened in the 1400 block of Fort Jackson Blvd in Lugoff Thursday morning. The suspect left the scene in a gray 4-door sedan headed toward Hwy 601 and was later arrested.
Doby’s Mill Elementary School was put on lockout for a period of time out of an abundance of caution, district officials confirmed. A lockout means everyone stays inside and normal operations continue, but the outside doors are locked.
