this is not the usual gun violence and chicago. this is outside of the city. what is the quintessential north shore suburb. the fourth of july highland. there are reports the shooter took an elevated position. you can see from the video there s a strip of stores that run the main street in center of town. you can see tactical teams on the scene. we have reports someone was on the rooftop of some of those strips of stores or took an elevated position from a high rise possibly shooting out a window. wgn in chicago reports one person killed. chicago sun times says multiple victims from the shooting there. are different accounts saying as many as nine people have been shot in this incident. tactical teams have arrived. there s a big presence including state police an lake county sheriff. what you can see from the video with the police presence you can see the kind of things people would have brought to a parade folding chairs coolers abandoned as people ran from the scene.
