Mr Onishola son of the late Kwara Falcons Basketball Club technical director Steve Onishola told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Ilorin that the multiple deaths were “just a coincidence’’.   He said that neither his father Steve nor Orisabunmi nor her younger sister Janet Ademola died from the disease. Onishola died in Ilorin on January 7 barely 24 hours after Orisabunmi died. Janet followed on January 9. “It is not true that my father, late Nollywood actress, Orisabunmi and their younger sister, Janet died of COVID-19 complications,” he said.

Reports have gone viral on social media platforms that Orisabunmi contracted COVID19 at an event where a popular gospel artiste, Esther Igbekele, performed in Ibadan, Oyo State in December. The rumour mill added that Orisabunmi later infected other family members. Describing the rumour as unfounded and a calculated attempt by fourth columnists to denigrate the late actress and her siblings, the family warned that fact of the matter should be obtained before going to press.
