FDC International Hotels Corp (雲品國際) yesterday posted a loss of NT$29.31 million (US$1.04 million) for last year, although it has proposed distributing a cash dividend of NT$0.5 per share while predicting that the industry would recover this year.
Revenue fell to NT$1.45 billion from NT$1.83 billion in 2020, when the New Taipei City-based conglomerate posted net profit of NT$108.97 million.
Business greatly improved after the government lifted a ban on indoor dining in August last year and eased social distancing requirements after a COVID-19 alert, FDC said.

<strong>TSMC boosts TAIEX</strong>
The TAIEX yesterday reversed earlier losses and closed slightly higher as contract chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC, 台積電) gained and stabilized the broader market, dealers said. The TAIEX ended the day up 48.83 points, or 0.27 percent, at 18,288.21. Turnover totaled NT$302.773 billion (US$10.94 billion), with foreign institutional investors buying a net NT$2.23 billion of shares on the main board, Taiwan Stock Exchange data showed. TSMC rose 1.24 percent to close at NT$651. Its gains contributed more than 65 points to the TAIEX, and boosted the electronics index by 0.08 percent and the semiconductor subindex by 0.42

Taipei, Jan. 3 (CNA) Seven of the 10 properties selected in a online poll as Taiwan's most beautiful resort hotels are in Hualien County and Nantou County, two of the island's top vacation destinations, according to the travel agency that conducted the survey.
Formosa International Hotels Corp (FIH, 晶華國際酒店集團) and FDC International Hotels Corp (雲品國際), two major hotel operators based in Taipei, reported that their revenue slumped last month from a year earlier due to COVID-19-related capacity limits and social distancing requirements.
FIH, which operates the Regent Taipei (晶華酒店), the Silks Place (晶英酒店), Just Sleep Hotel & Resort (捷絲旅) and several independent restaurants, posted a combined revenue of NT$357 million (US$12.73 million) for last month, down 28.55 percent from a year earlier, the group said last week.
Capacity reduction requirements affected revenue recovery, even though the number of local COVID-19 infections has dwindled, it said.
The
