Since 2011, National Voters Day has been celebrated on January 25 every year to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission (EC). On this day, voters are encouraged to participate in the electoral process. Meanwhile, the EC also organises various campaigns to facilitate the enrolment of voters, especially the new ones.
Underscoring the citizens role as the cornerstone of the worlds largest democracy, PM Modi emphasized the unique nature of this responsibility. He noted that the moment an individuals name gets registered in the voter list, they become an integral part of the democratic process.
